STEPS:

1.  Click the Deposition screen from the Client Information folder on the Site Plan.   View screen shot.
2.  Click the Add New button to enter deposition details.   View screen shot.
3.  Using the Tab key on your keyboard to move between fields, enter the following information:
  • In the Discovery of field, select the party requesting the deposition from the drop-down list. 
  • In the Deposer field, specify the person taking the deposition from the drop-down list.
  • In the Deponent field, select the category of the person being deposed from the drop-down list. 

4.   Depending on the category chosen, the next field changes accordingly and the appropriate person or group can then be selected from the drop-down list.   View screen shot.

5.  Based on who or what is selected in the individual box, the corresponding contact information is transferred from the data entry screens to the appropriate fields.   View screen shot.
6.  The Location field contains the address where the deposition is to be held.  This information transfers to the confirmation letter.  View screen shot.
7.  Enter the deposition date and time in the appropriate fields.   View screen shot.
8.  From the drop-down list select a Recorder to take the deposition.  If the desired recorder is not found in the drop-down list, it may be added to the Recorder Master list.   View screen shot.
9.  Repeat the above steps to add additional depositions.
10. Once the deposition has been held, check the Held box.  The deposition will remain on the Deposition Schedule report until the Held box is checked.   View screen shot.
11. Enter the date the original deposition was received in the Date Received field.  View screen shot.
12. Enter the date the original deposition was returned in the Date Returned field.  View screen shot.
13. If a copy of the deposition was received, check the Copy Received box.  View screen shot.
14. Check the Needed box to indicate that an original or copy of the deposition is needed.  View screen shot.
15.  Enter details about arranging the deposition or items to include at the meeting in the Notes field.   View screen shot.
16. On the date the deposition of the plaintiff is arranged, automated ticklers will prompt you to send the following letters:
  • DEPOPLAA - Confirmation of plaintiff's deposition to defendant's attorney.
  • DEPOPLAC - Explanation of deposition process to the client.
17. At a pre-determined number of days, currently set to 5 days prior to the deposition by the defendant, automated ticklers will prompt you to:
  • Call the attorney to confirm the deposition date.
  • Call the client to confirm the deposition date.
18. At a pre-determined number of days after the deposition, currently set to 15 days, a tickler will appear on the Daily Tickler and Daily Worksheet asking if you've received the deposition from the reporter.
  • If yes, forward the deposition to the client, using the CDEPLTR1, requesting review and signature.
  • If no, send the reporter a deposition letter - RPTRDEP1.
19. At a pre-determined number of days after the deposition, currently set to 30 days, another prompt will appear asking if you've received the deposition from the reporter.
  • If yes, forward the deposition to the client, using the CDEPLTR1, requesting review and signature.
  • If no, send a second request for the deposition to the reporter using the RPTRDEP2 letter.
20. On the date the deposition is arranged by the plaintiff send the following letters:
  • DEPODEFA - Deposition confirmation letter to the attorney.
  • DEPONOT - Notice of deposition.
  • RPTRCFDP - Reporter confirmation letter.
  • DEPONPTA -Confirmation letter to party other than the defendant (i.e. expert witness, etc.).
21. At a pre-determined number of days, currently set to 5 days prior to the deposition by the plaintiff, automated ticklers will prompt you to:
  • Call the attorney to confirm the deposition date.
  • Call the party other than the defendant to confirm the deposition date.
22. Use the Previous and Next buttons to move between records.
